The warm-up has no time limit, tells you the answer after each item and reaches none of the figures at the end. It exists so the first thing you meet under the clock is not the interface. If you have taken a paper like this before, the second button starts the countdown immediately.

Each item offers three to five choices; press 1 to 5 on the number row or the keypad, or tap the option. There is no back button and no marking an item to return to, which is the format rather than an omission — the published form is a single ordered pass and this one keeps that. Both input routes are recorded, and the report says how many answers arrived by tap, because aiming a pointer costs time a resting finger does not.
Read the curve, not just the total
The panel at the end gives items reached out of fifty, correct out of the ones that counted with a 95% Wilson interval on that proportion, and your median seconds against the 14.4-second budget. Under it, the same two figures are cut into blocks of ten so you can see where the paper started costing you — and a note saying why a fall across those blocks is difficulty and time pressure arriving together rather than either one on its own.

Frequently asked questions
Where does 14.4 seconds an item come from?
It is 720 seconds divided by 50 items, and nothing else. The published form gives twelve minutes for fifty questions with no per-question limit, so the budget is an average rather than a rule: you can spend forty seconds on one item as long as something else takes four. What makes the arithmetic bite is that the 14.4 seconds has to cover reading the item, not just solving it, and on a three-line word problem the reading alone is a third of the budget.
Is it better to work fast and reach more items, or slowly and get them right?
This page will not tell you, and the reason is that the answer depends on a scoring rule that is not ours to state. What the report does instead is separate the two halves so you can see your own trade: items reached sits in one figure, accuracy on the ones you reached in another, and the median seconds you spent in a third. A run where accuracy holds at a slow pace and one where it collapses at a fast pace look identical in a single total and completely different here.
My accuracy fell off a cliff near the end. Was that fatigue?
Probably not fatigue alone, because this paper is ordered easy to hard the way the published form is. Item 45 is meant to be harder than item 5, so a fall across the blocks of ten is at least three things at once: rising difficulty, a shrinking clock, and whatever twelve minutes of sustained effort costs you. No arrangement of these numbers separates them, which is why the page prints the pace column beside the accuracy column — a pace that climbed while accuracy held is a different run from one where both fell together.
Why is there no back button?
Because the format it imitates does not have one in any meaningful sense, and adding it would change what the clock measures. A paper you can revisit turns a pace test into a budgeting exercise, where the interesting decision is which items to bank for later. That is a real skill and it is not this one. If you want to see the same items with the pressure taken off, the warm-up has no clock at all.
Can I compare this with a score somebody quoted from an NFL combine?
No, and not only for the usual reason that these are different questions. Those figures are counts of correct answers on the publisher's own ordered form, taken under supervision, and the ones that circulate publicly were leaked rather than published — several of the most repeated ones have never been confirmed by anybody who administered the test. A count from fifty items generated in your browser is on no shared scale with them, and this page prints no conversion that would suggest otherwise.
What happens if I switch tabs in the middle?
The item you were on is voided, the countdown stops, and both facts are stated when you come back. A browser stops delivering frames to a page nobody is looking at, so an item that spanned a tab switch would otherwise record however long you were away as time you spent reading it. This is the one place the page is deliberately kinder than the real sitting, where the clock keeps running whatever you do — and the report says how many items went that way, so a run held together by tab switches is visible rather than hidden.
Are these the real questions?
No, and they never will be. The published bank is copyrighted, and a page that reproduced it would also wreck the thing it claims to prepare you for — an item everyone has seen measures nothing. Every item here is built from a form number: the series, the arithmetic, the date shifts, the digit strings and the three-statement logic are computed, and the analogies and category sets are our own. That buys a property a fixed practice paper cannot have, which is that a second run is a different paper.
Ninety years of a twelve-minute paper, and what the clock is really doing
The format dates to 1936, when Eldon F. Wonderlic assembled it as a graduate student at Northwestern University, and the shape has barely moved since: fifty short items of mixed type, ordered roughly from easy to hard, and one twelve-minute limit across the whole thing. The publisher now sells it inside a broader hiring product rather than as a standalone paper, but the twelve minutes is what everybody means by the name. Almost everything written about the test argues about the items, which is the wrong argument. Handed one at a time with no clock, they are a vocabulary question, a percentage, a date shift. The test is the ratio: fifty of them, 720 seconds, reading included.
The reason so many people have heard of it at all is a detour through American football. Paul Brown brought the paper into professional scouting in the late 1960s, it became a fixture of the NFL scouting combine, and for three decades individual players’ counts leaked into public circulation every spring — usually unconfirmed, frequently wrong, and always quoted as though they were a published statistic. The league dropped it from the combine in 2022 in favor of a longer computerized battery, having spent years failing to show that the count predicted much about a career. That history is worth knowing here for one specific reason: the figures people carry around in their heads about “a good Wonderlic score” came out of that leak, not out of the publisher’s manual, and they are being applied to a test whose norms were never public in the first place.
Which is why this page reports a count and a pace and stops there. Commercial hiring assessments publish their norm tables only to licensed customers, and several of them norm by role rather than against any general population, so even a leaked average would be wrong for most of the jobs it was quoted at. No percentile, no band and no “what employers look for” appears anywhere on this page. A reaction time here is the interval between the frame that painted the stimulus and the timestamp the browser attached to your key, both read from the same monotonic clock. What neither can see is the display pipeline behind it, so on a 60 Hz screen roughly 16 ms of every figure below is the machine rather than you. That is the timing floor: two numbers closer together than that are the same number, and this page reports no precision it cannot support.
